You’re a great crewmate, but haven’t mastered the imposter part yet. Here are 10 tips to improve your murderous skills for the Skeld map. Keep these in mind as you play. Eventually, practice will make perfect. Imposters, rise up.

1. Do Fake Tasks

Check which fake tasks you have on the map. Follow your schedule until you have an opportunity to kill someone. Or at least look at the map, so if you go in a certain direction you can have a reason for doing so. Make sure you don’t do wires out of order.

2. Think Like a Crewmate

If you’re only thinking of yourself and haven’t been keeping track of other people, you’re being sus. A crewmate wants to find out who the imposter is, so keep track of where people are around you. This will make your alibi stronger.

3. Kill the Strongest Players First

There will always be stronger and weaker players, depending on how much brain power they want to commit to the game. If someone’s quite good at playing detective and tracking your movements, kill them first. This will make the rest of the killing easier.

4. If You’re Accused, Accuse Them Back God forbid, you get caught. You kill someone in electrical and someone just barges in. Try to report the body right away, to at least seem like you discovered it. If they accuse you, say you watched them kill. It’s either you or them, so the crew will have to take a 50/50 chance.

5. Don’t Act Out of Character

If you’re normally quiet, don’t become extremely talkative when you’re imposter. Similarly, if you’re usually playing detective, don’t go quiet as soon as you’re the imposter. This will make people throw sus at you. Act as you would as a crewmate.

6. Use Vents for Searching

If you’re in Security, you can scour both Electrical and Medbay for lone victims. You can rotate between vents as you wait for someone to walk in. Make sure your kill cooldown is finished, so you don’t vent out unable to kill.

7. Use Vents to Get Away

Leave the scene of the crime as soon as you commit the murder. This can get you away from a body into another room quickly. If you’re near the body, you’re automatically a suspect. So, put as much space as possible between you and the body. People can accuse you of venting since they’ll know where the vents lead, but it’s better than being beside the body.

8. Kill in Remote Areas. The more time between a kill and the body getting discovered, the better. People tend to remember the most recent places they’ve seen you. So, if you were in Weapons and killed at the beginning, go to the left side for the next couple of minutes. People may forget you were ever in Weapons and assume you were on the right side the whole time.

9. Call an Emergency Meeting

If you kill in a common area, hit the emergency button and people won’t be able to discover the body. This can backfire, as people could accuse you of trying to make the body disappear. Therefore, make sure you have reasonable sus on someone. Say, “the task bar didn’t go up when they were doing a task,” to explain why you called an emergency.

10. Self-Report

If you don’t think you can get out of kill situation, just pretend you came across the body. Kill someone and report it right away. This will explain why you were in the area, and push sus on surrounding players. You could be accused of a self-report, but sometimes you can get away with it.
