Ranking the Top 10 Most Famous Bachelors
There have been many famous Bachelors over the years. It’s difficult to come out unscathed in the face of such a critical media platform. Nevertheless, this list is a personal, subjective, but definitive ranking of the most noteworthy Bachelors of all time. Enjoy both my love and hatred towards these poor, poor, subjects.
10. Juan Pablo Galavis
Juan Pablo gets the lowest spot on this list because he’s just so awful. He never proposed, or even said, “I love you,” to any of his contestants. Poor Nikki, the woman who ended up with him briefly. He didn’t seem to care about any of the women very much. The only thing he brought to the franchise was his tagline, “It’s okay.” Once the show was over, he made homophobic remarks about a potential gay Bachelor. He doesn’t get to sit with us.
9. Arie Luyendyk Jr.
Arie is low on the list because he was A: Old, and B: Awful. He was 36 when all of his contestants were in their twenties. They couldn’t have had at least some age appropriate women? I may be biased because I hate his vibe and mannerisms, but the ending secured it for me. I’ve had to type this ending so many times it’s cramping my fingers. He proposed to Becca, then months later regretted it and went back to his runner-up. Writing this has also caused me to search, “Why do so many Bachelors change their mind?” There wasn’t an answer so I’m just going to hate the ones who do. They’re still together with kids and blah blah blah. I hope them some happiness.
8. Peter Weber
Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater. He didn’t murder his wife, as the nursery suggests, but he got Bachelor nation angry enough to think he did. Let’s take a step back. He meets the lawyer, Kelly, in a hotel lobby before the show. Nothing happens but she ends up on the show. Cut to the final four where he sends Kelly home. He then sends Victoria, his third choice, home the next week. His final two are Maddie and Hannah Anne. He decides to propose to Maddie, but she ends it with him and leaves. Hannah Anne is chosen as a consolation prize without that knowledge. He then classically leaves her for a chance with Maddie months later. After Peter’s mom is awful to Maddie at After the Final Rose because she loves Hannah Anne, Peter and Maddie breakup. A couple months later, he becomes official with Kelly, his fourth choice. Whew.
7. Chris Soules
Chris Soules. The farmer from Iowa. They must’ve wanted to appeal to the Midwest with this cowboy. He wasn’t the most attractive or nice bachelor, and chose the woman he thought he should be with rather than the one he truly wanted. He sent Becca home, who he obviously loved, to be with Whitney, who was older and ready to have children. Him and Whitney separated soon after. I’m sure he would’ve gone after Becca if he’d had the chance, but she was on the new season of the Bachelor as a contestant. Chris ended up killing someone driving a tractor in a hit and run, so we don’t stan him.
6. Jason Mesnick
Jason Mesnick was a nice, cute guy, but pulled the unforgettable trope of choosing his runner-up. After they’ve already proposed. Jason proposed to Melissa and stayed with her until the After the Final Rose Special. All the while thinking about the second place woman he sent home. On live television, he broke up with Melissa and got back together with Molly in the same night. This shoots him way down the list.
5. Brad Womack
Brad Womack was Bachelor not once, but twice. He was the Bachelor for one season and didn’t propose to any of his final women. A couple of seasons later, they brought him back. He chose Emily Maynard this time, but it didn’t work out. She ended up become a fan favorite Bachelorette. He ranks middle of the pack on this list because of his utter audacity. He got two whole seasons and still didn’t get married.
4. Nick Viall
Nick Viall was generally disliked as a Bachelor, but he knew what he wanted. It was obvious he like Vanessa the most from the beginning, so when he chose her, it wasn’t shocking to anyone. He didn’t stay with the Montreal native for long, as they broke it off very soon after the engagement. He ended up having a comeback journey and has a well-liked podcast. His nuanced podcast opinions brought back the fans he lost as the Bachelor.
3. Colton Underwood
Colton is a controversial character, but most Bachelors are. “You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain,” as Harvey Dent once said. Colton’s season was entertaining, and he was quite the genuine Bachelor. After Cassie left in the top three, he broke up with the two other contestants to try to win her back. They ended up dating for a couple of years after but have recently broken up. Now, she’s filed a restraining order and he reportedly put a tracking device on her car. So, he was a great Bachelor, until he wasn’t.
2. Ben Higgens
Ben Higgens is one of the most sensitive men we’ve had the pleasure of viewing. He is gorgeous, caring, and provided us with the national treasure that is Jojo Fletcher as Bachelorette. His only downfall was caring a bit too much. He told both Jojo, his runner up, and Lauren, his final choice, that he loved them. This is uncharacteristic, because usually they wait to say it to their final pick. It made both of them believe they were the one, which made the breakup even harder for them.
1. Sean Lowe
Sean Lowe takes the number one spot for several reasons. He didn’t hesitate when he chose Catherine. Some bachelors flounder and go back to their runner up, but not my boy Lowe. Him and Catherine are still together with their own little family. He’s funny on Twitter, loves his wife, and is generally unproblematic. People accuse his season of being boring – because he caused so little drama. The best bachelor providing us with mediocre TV.
